  • Minimum memory required: 256 MB for Win NT/2000 (No longer supported by Microsoft), 512MB for XP or Vista. 1GB recommended.
  • Minimum free hard disk space required: 100 MB, 1 GB recommended.
  • Operating system version: Windows NT/2000 (No longer supported by Microsoft)/XP Professional/Vista
  • Minimum screen resolution: 1024 x 768
  • Network: 10MHz minimum, 100MHz or higher recommended

SME minimum system requirements for Server

  • Minimum CPU required: 1.5 GHz, 2 or more GHz recommended.
  • Memory/RAM: 4GB
  • Minimum free hard disk space required: 4 GB minimum, 10 GB perferred
  • Minimum screen resolution: 1024 x 768
  • Network: 10Mbps min, 100Mbps or 1Gbps recommended.
  • Operating System: Vista/Win 7 or Windows Server 2003/2008/SBS R2/2011: MS Does not recommend installing MS SQL Server on a domain controller. We also do not recommend installing on a server running MS Exchange Server: (We no longer support the use of Windows 2000 Server as Microsoft discontinued their support for this system)
  • Note: SME does NOT work with SBS non-R2 edition because non-R2 uses SQL 2000. Check with your IT group about upgrading to R2 version
  • Windows Server 2012 is in preliminary testing with SME and looks very good, however we have not officially completed testing. Sept 2012.
  • Database: MS SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012 any edition.
  • Note that the Express Edition is free and has no user limit, but does have a limit of 4GB database size for 2005 and 10GB limit for 2008 and 2012. This is sufficient size for most companies unless you plan lots of stored documents. If you already have MS SQL Server installed for other applications it should work for SME.
